Researchers from the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute and Sydney Medical School assert that in many countries, the rate at which sufferers of mesothelioma are treated using chemotherapy is lower than it should be.
It is recommended for 65 percent of patients to undergo at least one session of chemotherapy during their mesothelioma cancertreatment, but according to the Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, some countries have as low as an 18 percent chemotherapy treatment of mesotheliomarate. Additionally, the study found that no country had reached the optimized rate of chemotherapy utilization, as calculated by Sydney doctors, although Canada and Australia came close.
Chemotherapy is currently the premier of mesothelioma treatment options, usually complemented by medication or surgery.
