Lung Cancer Victim’s Surviving Relatives File Asbestos Exposure Suit

According to The Louisiana Record, the family of a Gretna man who died last year has filed an asbestos exposure lawsuit against CSR Limited claiming asbestos led to the lung cancer that caused his death.

In their suit, the family alleges that in the years leading up to his lung cancer diagnosis, the man worked at Johns Manville. While working at Johns Manville from 1957 to 1967, the man was a general laborer, according to the suit, a position that required him to handle hazardous levels of raw blue asbestos.

The asbestos that the man handled as a part of his duties working for Johns Manville was supplied by CSR Limited, which the family’s suit accuses of:

  • Supplying the asbestos products that led to the man’s death
  • Not warning the man about the potential hazards of asbestos exposure
  • Producing and selling an unreasonably dangerous product
