Nursing Home Aide Indicted for Sexual Assault

Recently, a nursing home aide at a Utica rehab and nursing center was accused of sexually abusing one of the facility’s residents.

According to syracuse.com, the abuse took place in May, when the 48-year-old certified nurse aide allegedly sexually assaulted a physically disabled female resident of Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit handed down a nine-count indictment against the 48 year old, who is no longer employed by the nursing home, including:

  • Sexual abuse in the first degree
  • A second degree count of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person
  • Endangering the welfare of an vulnerable elderly person in the second degree
  • Willful violation of health laws
