Man Sues Several Companies After Father Dies of Mesothelioma

Generally, by the time patients are diagnosed with mesothelioma, which is usually not until it is advanced, they are often told they only have about a year or so to live. Since that is the case, for those who acquired the disease after being exposed to asbestos (the only known cause of the disease), it is often left up to their family members to hold those at fault accountable through a mesothelioma lawsuit.

Recently, a New Orleans man sued several companies, claiming that they negligently exposed his father to asbestos, which led to him getting and dying from mesothelioma. According to The Louisiana Record, the man alleges that while his father worked for the companies, he was exposed to dangerous levels of asbestos, both in his work area and from products he used to carry out his duties.

One of the defendants the man names in the lawsuit is the City of New Orleans. According to the suit, his father began working for the City in 1958 and throughout his time there, he was exposed to asbestos and asbestos-containing products at one of the City’s brake tag stations. The man also claims in his suit that his father was exposed to asbestos while working on naval ships while under the employ of the Naval Reserves.
